Kangaroo Island resident Debbie Farnden spotted a large shark, likely a great white, swimming between the two Kingscote jetties at about 4pm on Sunday, November 15.
She said the shark was quite large, and spent a few minutes time swimming around deep in the spot.

There was also a report of a great white at Emu Bay in recent days.
Large sharks, including great whites and large bronze whalers, are regularly sighted in the shallows off Kangaroo Island.
And there was speculation that Sunday's shark was on the prowl for a long-nose fur seal that frequent the jetty area.

Old timer "Spoggy" Ward recently recounted the story of the old swimming enclosure set up on the early part of the 20th century at the same spot.
In the days before Kingscote's ocean pool, a line of pickets was hammered in between the jetties to create a safe swimming spot.
But every now and then a shark used to sneak in and on once occasion a large bronze whaler in the enclosure was taken out by the locals with a power head.
