With the COVID-19 outbreak in Adelaide, everyone is holding their breath that 2020 Kingscote Christmas Pageant will go ahead at the town oval on Friday, December 18.
Meanwhile one thing that will go ahead regardless is Christmas lights with Wellbeing SA engagement officer Kath Bald encouraging as many households as possible to put up their lights.
She hopes houses from Penneshaw to Flinders Chase will light up. The Islander plans to publish a list of houses but call Kath on 0428 169 384 to get on that list.
Another celebration that hopefully goes ahead is the visit of the One and Hall sailing ship.
One and All as the ship is scheduled to conduct day sails from November 26 to November 29 out of Kingscote. Bushfire affected residents can head to the Recovery centre to find out more.
As we all know this year has seen many things done differently and the 2020 Christmas Pageant is no exception.
Advance Kingscote chairman Graeme Connell said; "In light of everything that has happened on the Island this past 12 months we were committed to ensuring the much-loved Christmas pageant went ahead."
This year the pageant will take place at the Kingscote Oval instead of Dauncey Street, which is the traditional location.
This change in location allows Advance Kingscote to manage COVID-19 safe practices while not compromising any fun on offer.
This year the floats will meet as usual at the wharf before heading down to the oval.
"We are extremely pleased as this change means the floats will drive pass the hospital which will allow staff and patients to also be part of the parade," Mr Connell said.
If you have any questions or would like to register a float, please contact Maree Baldwin at the Community Centre on 8553 2809.
