The 2021 Census night scheduled for August 10 currently needs more than 1600 South Australians, including those living in the country, to fill a diverse range of roles in an bid to tell the nation's story.
Run by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), the Census aims to provide a snapshot of who we are and how we are changing.
The data helps planning for health care, education, roads and infrastructure, and informs many services that are available to local communities.
Yet its delivery is a massive undertaking, involving about 10 million households and 25 million people, and requires the assistance of 38,000 recruits nationally.
Currently, ABS works to fill paid temporary field manager and field officer positions across the state which includes rural and remote areas.
According to an ABS spokesperson, the 2021 Census is a great way for people to earn some extra income and help tell their community's story.
"Recruiting field officers from each community is a high priority," the spokesperson said.
"A majority of the roles are for Census field officers, which pays $24.80 per hour, inclusive of a 25 per cent loading plus super, plus allowances."
In addition, Remote Area Management teams will travel to regional and remote areas to engage with communities and assist people to complete the Census.
"We have a number of different ways in which people can complete the Census to ensure everyone can participate," the spokesperson said.
This includes online which was made first available in 2006.
A range of stakeholders in the community including local councils will help raise awareness about the Census jobs available in their area and to let people know that the Census is coming.
