The KI netball season continues with some close matches on Saturday.
Wisanger v Kingscote
Quick fast-paced game throughout. Both teams defending well. Great shooting by Gen and Nicole (W). Wisanger having a strong third quarter coming out to lead. Kingscote coming back hard in the fourth quarter. Exciting end with Wisanger winning their first game by one goal. Wisanger 48 defeated Kingscote 47.
A fairly even start to the game with both teams playing strong and fighting for the ball. Western Districts built a lead in the second through strong finishing off. Both teams made changes at half time and it was a slow scoring quarter. The last was a similar story to the second with Western Districts showing their strength. Western Districts 37 defeated Wisanger 15.
Kingscote got the jump on Wisanger and built a lead through the hard work of the Newman girls. Kingscote continued to dominate in the second as a Wisanger struggled to pull the ball in. The third saw Wisanger settle and reduce the gap with Lily providing strength in the centre. The last quarter was fairly even with a lot of back and forth between goals. Kingscote 19 defeated Wisanger 15.
A hard fought first quarter in the wind with neither team scoring. The second was another goalless quarter. The girls getting a lot of training on stepping and remaining 3 feet from their opponent. Wisanger finally scored, with 4 goals in the third quarter. A great game with both teams doing some good leading and passing. Wisanger 4 defeated Kingscote 0.
Parndana v Western Districts
The two teams from the west played in the east on Saturday's match up between Parndana and Western Districts.
Parndana opted to change their normal starting positions, looking to improve on its 22-goal loss from the last time the two teams met.
After some good court play from both teams, and some impressive passes into the goal circle from Kimbo, Parndana were up by three goals at the first break.
Westies came out hard in the second quarter. Olivia was passing nicely into Maree and Kel, while Pa and Caitlin worked hard in defence for Parndana.
The scores were even at half time.
Ella came on in the third quarter to give Parndana some fresh legs through the centre, and Tanner had a good impact for Western Districts in wing attack.
Western District got up by two goals going into the last quarter.
Rachelle swapped into wing attack for Parndana, making strong leads and providing plenty of passing options.
Beautiful shooting and movement from Bridget and Takeda made it hard for the Wonks defenders to get a hand on the ball. Crystal and Bonnie had a tight tussle around the goal circle.
It was a close quarter, and when the final whistle sounded, no one on the court knew the outcome. Parndana came away victorious by one goal, 43-42.
