Kangaroo Island Business Hub coordinator Susi Whitehead and solicitor Holly McCoy from Bushfire Community Legal Project have joined forces to provide KI residents with free presentations and advice clinics, all throughout September, on all things employment and workplace related.
The 'Legal Essentials' Employment/Workplace Law Series is tailored to assist KI sole traders, small business owners and their employees.
Every Monday night in September, they will host a free information session with expert guest speakers who have come across from Adelaide.
The following day, every Tuesday, these guests will then provide a free advice clinic on their area of expertise, where KI residents can book in for a one-on-one appointment.
These guests all have expertise on different elements of operating a compliant business or workplace.
The second free information session will be on Monday, September 13. The session is focused on taxation considerations for small businesses.
A free information clinic will follow on Tuesday, September 14, where individuals and small business owners can receive information on their taxation affairs.
To register for either of these events, head to the Eventbrite page or simply stop in at the Hub in Kingcote.
Coming up for Week 3 is Work Health Safety requirements and Workers Compensation claims; and then for Week 4: Employment contracts and worker's rights (including dismissal and termination).
It's hoped KI community members will attend all the sessions to get the most out of the series. Contact Susi Whitehead on 0429 005 356.
