The Barossa Hills Fleurieu Local Health Network rolled out the next stage of Pfizer vaccinations at the Kingscote Town Hall clinic this week.
And residents are reminded that this Saturday, September 18 is the last chance to get the Pfizer shot in this round of Island vaccinations.
The next round of AstraZeneca vaccinations meanwhile start next week with the final chance being October 2.
Network staff, together with the Royal Flying Doctor Service, had now administered more than 4000 vaccinations to KI residents, as of September 14, including first and second doses.
This equates to just over 60 per cent of the Island's 4500 population now receiving at least one dose.
Bookings are encouraged but walk-ins are accepted.
Among those receiving their vaccinations this week were Ken Rowe and his family, who operate Kangaroo Island Shellfish at American River.
The Rowe family is keen to see the Island reopen to visitors once vaccinations rates had been achieved, especially with their big plans to expand their aquaculture tourism business.
Network vaccination lead Jane Wright said said the vaccination rate of the KI community was now above 60 per cent.
And it was on track to reach the 80 per cent fully vaccinated target once the final roll-out phase is completed in October.
"Residents of Kangaroo Island have been keen to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and we continue to see a strong uptake of the vaccine in the community," she said.
"We have seen a great response from the community at Kingscote COVID-19 vaccination clinic, with the clinic operating at full capacity on most days and additional capacity available for appointments on Friday, September 17 and Saturday, September 18.
"We'd like to remind the community that Saturday, September 18 is the last day to receive a first dose of the Pfizer vaccine at Kingscote COVID-19 vaccination clinic, and Saturday, October 2 is the last day to receive the AstraZeneca vaccine.
"We will keep the community informed about how residents can receive their vaccine doses after this phase as soon as details are finalised.
"We encourage everyone who is eligible to book an appointment, roll up their sleeves and get vaccinated as soon as they can so we can further protect the health and safety of our community."
COVID-19 vaccination clinics will run on Kangaroo Island throughout September and October, with the second phase commencing this week and the final phase commencing in October.
The vaccination schedule for Kangaroo Island clinics is:
- September 13 -18: Pfizer first dose
- September 20-October 2: AstraZeneca second dose, and first dose if required
- October 4-9: Pfizer second dose
