Celebrity cook and media personality Lyndey Milan has sold the NSW South Coast property she owned with late partner John Caldon to a "high flying" Sydney couple prior to auction.

The property at 168 Nuninuna Drive, Jamberoo, sold for "more than $4.25 million" according to selling agent Angie De Battista of Ray White Kiama, well above the initial guide of $3.5 million-plus.

"It was an auction campaign however the vendor received an offer above their expectations and it just made their lives easier to accept it," Ms Battista said.

The property sold to clients of Ray White Kiama director Michele Lay.

"They were a high profile Sydney couple and they started looking at a waterfront property before I pointed them in the direction of this listing," Ms Lay said.

The secluded homestead had been a weekender getaway for celebrity cook and food writer Milan, and her partner of 14 years, the late Mr Caldon.

The property had been transformed under the stewardship of the pair, with the addition of a new wing and relocation of the kitchen in order to bolster its ability to host guests.

The six-bedroom, five-bathroom property operated as a successful holiday rental for many years.

Features of the 3.02 hectare property include a croquet lawn, fruit trees and north-facing orientation.

"It's a manageable acreage - a lot of acreages are really large and you need help to run but this one is manageable for a family or as a holiday home," Ms Battista said.

"[It's situated] on one of the most prestigious streets in Jamberoo and it's just a calibre above the rest," she said.

According to CoreLogic, Mr Caldon purchased the Jamberoo property in 1996 for $566,000.

Known as the 'Australian home cook hero', Milan is a long-time TV chef, book author and restaurant critic.
