Young Kangaroo Island cricket star Minka Macauley recently represented Fleurieu and Districts in the South Australian Cricket Association's Under 16 Girls Cricket Carnival.
Minka finished in the top 20 of both bowling and batting, earning her a spot in the South Australian Girls "Team of the Year".
The carnival took place in early December at ovals in Callington and around Adelaide, involving both country and city teams.
Minka, who plays for the MacGillivray Cricket Club on KI, was invited to attend the mainland carnival on the back of her involvement in last year's team.
Over the course of the week, the girls played four matches, winning two and finishing third in their conference and fifth overall.
Minka excelled, taking six wickets, one catch and one run out, to finish sixth overall out of 100 girls in the bowling. Her best bowling figures being two wickets for one run.
She also finished 19th in the batting out of the 100 players competing.
At the close of the carnival, once all bowling, batting and fielding statistics were calculated, Minka was named in the South Australian Girls "Team of the Year".
An amazing achievement.
Minka has been invited to play for the Eastern Falcon's Women's Team for the remainder of the 2021/22 season and plans to pursue cricket as far as possible. - MacGillivray Cricket Club
